Cambodia, one of hundreds of countries worldwide, is actively executing in purpose of achieving the MDG (Millennium Development Goals), approved by the United Nations since 2000 in order to eliminate poverty by 2015.

In the name of local authority, the lower-level national government who has received principle agreement from the Royal Government, Phnom Penh has worked on its city development which linked to the 7 Goals (Capital level does not have data for Goal No. 8 and 9).  In this regards, the Department of Planing has recorded the progress data for the implementation of MDG based on some questionnaires investigated in Villages and Sangkats of all 8 Khans and summarized for the results of (2007-2010) which is shown below. By comparing with other provinces in Cambodia, Phnom Penh has received top score of 89 points; however, Preah Sihanouk Province has shown its highest progress in the 3 years period of 63 points (highest increased is 16 points).  As the results of the goals implementation in each Khan as well as the Capital, Khan Toul Kork was scored best comparing to 4 urban Khans and Khan Mean Chey was outstanding among 4 suburb Khans. Moreover, The environmental sustainability (Goal No. 7), the mother health uplifting and child death reduction (Goal No. 5 and 4), especially Goal No. 6: HIV/AIDS prevention have shown much impression among all goals.
