Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen this morning said Cambodia doesn’t rush to pass the NGO draft law, the Ministry of Interior and civil societies will have more time to discuss until a consensus is reached.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of Vanda Institute, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said many discussions on this proposed draft law have been held in 2011, but we could not reach a consensus yet, therefore the discussion should continue in 2012, 2013, 2014; the royal government doesn’t rush for this draft law.

The civil societies are the main development partners of the government and the government will continue its good cooperation with the civil societies, underlined Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

The NGO draft law is not made to put pressure on any civil society, said the Cambodian premier, adding that the royal government is not authoritarian, if it is, we will pass the NGO draft law without discussion.

The NGO draft law has been drawn up by the Ministry of Interior since 1995, and the last draft has 9 chapters with 34 articles.
