|Number of Foreign Tourists Up 15.6 Percent in Q3|

During the third quarter of this year, the number of the foreign visitors to Cambodia has seen an increase by 15.6 percent, according to the statistics released recently by the Ministry of Tourism. From January up to September 2011, the total foreign visitors to Cambodia rose to 2.08 million, or 15.6 percent up from 1.8 million if compared to the same period of 2010,
showed the statistics, adding that most of them traveled to Cambodia by air and land.According to the statistics, approximately 1.04 million foreign tourists or 50.3 percent arrived in Cambodia by air, while around 1.03 million or 46.8 percent by land.Vietnamese visitors were ranked at the top list of foreign arrivals to Cambodia with 462,371 (up 21.7 percent), followed by South Korean with 247,381 (up 19.3 percent), and Chinese with 177,533 (up 38.9 percent).The number of tourists from Europe was at 159,150 (up 13.8 percent) and America at 66,632 (up 10 percent)Last year, Cambodia received in total 2.5 million foreign tourists, generating total revenue of nearly US$2 billion.Cambodia expects to attract this year some 2.7 million of foreign visitors and 7 million by 2020.
