The Royal Government of Cambodia has been paying attention on natural resource management and environmental protection, said Minister of Environment H.E. Mok Mareth.

The Cambodian environment minister made the remarks here on June 4 during the celebration of National and World Environment Day, under the theme “Forest is the nature which serves your need.”

Addressing the event, H.E. Mok Mareth said this theme is a message to alert people about disasters caused by human activities, which negatively affect the socio-economic development in Cambodia as well as the world as a whole.

He also noted that the recent increase of the air pollution rate does not only happened in developed countries, but also in developing countries due to urban development, increase in road traffic, release of chemical waste from factories, etc.

The Royal Government of Cambodia has set up the national policy on combating climate change, including measures for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, climate change adaptation, carbon credits and the national policy on green development, he underlined.
