|National Assembly President Receives UN special rapporteur Surya Subedi|

Cambodia’s National Assembly President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin met in Phnom Penh on June 3 with Mr. Surya Prasad Subedi, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of Human Rights to Cambodia.
During the meeting, Samdech Heng Samrin warmly welcomed Mr. Surya Prasad Subedi’s working visit to Cambodia.
He briefed the UN envoy over the untiring efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia in development the country as well as the poverty alleviation for the people.
Samdech Heng Samrin also clarified Cambodia’s political commitment in the democratic process.
In reply, Mr. Surya Prasad Subedi expressed thanks and appreciated Cambodia’s National Assembly President Heng Samrin for having led the country toward the development by overcoming numerous difficulties and obstacles.
He was impressed in the last decade that Cambodia made a great development and has established some institutions for the protection of human rights.
The UN envoy also told Cambodian leader of his mission to Cambodia, the purpose of which he said is to examine the parliament’s power in reviewing the works of the government.
Mr. Surya Prasad Subedi concluded last Friday his five-day working visit to Cambodia.
